The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has long evolved from a mere trade show for consumer electronics into a central meeting point for the global tech industry. Once again this year, it became clear how much the boundaries between industries are blurring. As German Economic Newspaper Handelsblatt astutely analyzes, tech giants like Nvidia, Qualcomm, and AWS are deliberately courting traditional German corporations such as Siemens, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. However, this growing dependency is not a one-way street – Big Tech companies also rely on the expertise and use cases of established manufacturers to bring their technologies into the real world. This symbiosis also characterized this year’s product presentations, which were dominated by artificial intelligence and robotics. Here’s my personal highlights from CES 2026 …

/1/ Roborock Saros Rover: The Robot Vacuum That Climbs Stairs

An absolute highlight and another step toward fully automated households is the Roborock Saros Rover. This vacuum and mopping robot can climb stairs as the first of its kind, enabling continuous cleaning across multiple floors. Until now, this has been one of the biggest hurdles for autonomous household robots. The Saros Rover is currently still a concept with no price or release date, but it impressively demonstrates where the journey is heading.

/2/ Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: The Next Generation of Foldable Smartphones

Samsung continues to advance the development of foldable displays and presented the Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that unfolds into a 10-inch tablet. While it’s not the first device with a triple-fold display, Samsung sets new standards with its manufacturing quality and refined software experience. The TriFold could finally close the gap between smartphone and tablet, paving the way for a new generation of mobile devices.

/3/ Fender Headphones: Legendary Guitar Sound for Your Ears

Fender, an icon in guitar craftsmanship, is venturing into the consumer audio market and presented its first Bluetooth headphones at CES. As a proud owner of a beautiful Fender Western guitar, I can certainly relate to the excitement about this new product. The Fender Headphones promise to deliver the brand’s legendary sound in an everyday-usable format – a perfect complement to my instrument. For musicians and fans of the brand, this is an exciting expansion of the ecosystem that completes the musical experience from playing to listening. The headphones are designed to stand out with high sound quality and an appealing design that recalls the brand’s iconic amplifiers and reflects the brand’s DNA.

/4/ Boston Dynamics Atlas: The Humanoid Robot Comes of Age

Another milestone in robotics was the first public appearance of the new Atlas from Boston Dynamics. The humanoid robot, supported by its partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, demonstrated impressive advancements in its movement patterns and ability to interact with its environment. With 56 degrees of freedom, fully rotational joints, and tactile-sensing hands, Atlas now operates with even greater autonomy and flexibility. The presentation made clear that humanoid robots will soon be capable of handling complex tasks in industry and the service sector.

/5/ Unitree G1: The Agile Competitor to Atlas

Alongside Atlas, the Unitree G1 also attracted considerable attention. The humanoid robot from Chinese manufacturer Unitree Robotics proved to be remarkably agile and robust. In an impressive demonstration, the G1 even competed in a boxing match. While this was primarily for show effect, it nonetheless underscores the advanced motor capabilities of this new generation of robots. The competition between Boston Dynamics and Unitree will certainly accelerate development in this field in the coming years.

Conclusion

CES 2026 has demonstrated that artificial intelligence and robotics are the central drivers of technological development. The products presented are not merely technical gimmicks but offer concrete solutions to real-world problems – whether in the home, industry, or healthcare. Close collaboration between tech corporations and established industrial companies will become increasingly important for successfully bringing innovations to market. It remains exciting to observe which of the showcased concepts and products will prevail in the coming years.
