PRINCE (PRojects IN Controlled Environments - since 1989) and PRINCE2 (since 1996) is one of the most widely used project management systems worldwide. In Germany alone, there are approximately 30,000 certified PRINCE2 project managers (worldwide: more than 250,000). In fact, PRINCE was originally developed for IT projects, but was soon used for other types of projects (e.g. Olympic Games).
