Superintelligence describes an artificial intelligence that is superior to human intelligence. The Oxford professor and philosopher Nick Bostrom analyses the scenario of a super intelligence in detail in his besteller "Super intelligence. Scenarios of a Coming Revolution" (publication year: 2014); above all, he creates an awareness of the power and scope of super intelligence. He warns that "a super-intelligent AI should not be called smart in the sense that a scientific genius is smart compared to an average person. It should rather be a difference of the kind that exists between an average human being and a bug or a worm."

There are many different names for super-intelligence. The author Amy Web (see book tips below) speaks of an Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), in contrast to "Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI)" and "Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)".
