Gurgaon is a city in the Indian state of Haryana, located not far from India's capital New Delhi. Until the 1980s the economic activities of the city were mainly on agriculture, but that changed with India's economic opening in the early 1990s: Gurgaon became the starting point for the IT Offshoring Industry: General Electric, then under the management of Jack Welch, founded the first offshore destination here, and other companies followed.
Today the city plays an important role as an IT location. Interesting: Gurgaon also played a role in the Mars Rover Mission of NASA: NASA used a Mars Rover tool developed by Siemens Industry Software in Gurgaon.
